GoSip Terms of Use

Last updated: 21 August 2026

These terms govern your use of GoSip. By creating an account you agree to them. GoSip is operated by Gautam Anand, Bengaluru, India.

1. Who can use GoSip

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You must be a resident of a society that uses GoSip, and you join using an invite code issued for your flat.
  • A maximum of three accounts may be registered to one flat. One person may hold one account per society.
  • Your account is yours. Do not share it, and do not create an account for someone else.

2. Your handle

You choose a handle, and that is what other residents see. It may not impersonate another resident, the committee, a member of staff or GoSip itself, and it may not encode your flat number or anyone's real name. You may change it once every 90 days; prior handles are retained internally so enforcement continues to apply.

3. What you can say

GoSip exists so residents can raise things they would otherwise stay quiet about. You are explicitly permitted to:

  • criticise the committee, its decisions and its spending;
  • ask where money went and why charges changed;
  • report a security, safety or maintenance failure;
  • complain about noise, pets, parking or shared spaces, including by flat number;
  • disagree with the majority, and sound frustrated doing it.

Being negative, sarcastic or critical is not a breach of these terms.

4. What you must not post

Removed immediately, with account action:

  • threats of violence, stated or implied;
  • sexual harassment, or sexualised comments about a resident;
  • anything sexualising or identifying a minor;
  • phone numbers, addresses, workplaces, vehicle numbers or a person's daily movements;
  • slurs or hostility based on caste, religion, region, language, gender, sexuality or disability;
  • calls to exclude, boycott or evict a resident;
  • targeting guards, housekeeping, drivers or delivery workers by class or origin;
  • coordinated targeting of one person.

Not permitted in a post that names or identifies a person:

  • stating a crime as established fact;
  • their private life — relationships, family, money, health;
  • their employment, immigration or legal status;
  • photographs taken in a private space;
  • something you know to be untrue.

5. Posts that name a person

If your post identifies a person — by name, flat, role or description — it is held and read by a moderator before it appears, and you will be asked what it is based on. If you mark it as something you heard from others, it may ask questions but may not assert wrongdoing as fact.

The person named is told that a post concerns them and is given a right to reply beneath it. They are not told who wrote it. Repeated posts about the same person within a short period are paused while the pattern is reviewed.

6. Moderation and enforcement

Content is screened automatically and, where it names a person, by a human. Depending on severity we may publish, hold, remove, warn, apply a strike, restrict posting, or suspend or terminate an account. Strikes expire after 180 days.

Every enforcement action tells you which rule was applied and returns the text you wrote. You may appeal once per action, and appeals are decided by a person, normally within 72 hours.

A society administrator has no role in this. They manage membership and invite codes and cannot publish, remove or review content.

7. Reporting

Every published post and comment can be reported. Reports are weighed alongside automated signals and severity; a single report does not remove content by itself, and repeatedly filing baseless reports is itself a breach of these terms.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of what you write. You grant us a licence to store, display and moderate it for the purpose of operating GoSip within your society. You are responsible for what you post, including its accuracy.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, and we may remove content that does. You may delete your account at any time from Settings; some records are retained as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Availability and liability

GoSip is provided on an "as is" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Content is written by residents and does not represent our views; we do not verify the truth of what residents write, beyond the moderation described above.

To the extent permitted by law, our liability arising out of your use of GoSip is limited to the amount you have paid to use it, which for the current version is nil.

11. Grievances

Complaints about content, moderation or your data go to the Grievance Officer named in the Privacy Policy. Complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Bengaluru have exclusive jurisdiction.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified in the app, and the date at the top of this page will change.
